weekend crafty goodness

I hope you’re all having a fabulous weekend! Mine has definitely gone by way too quickly! We’ve been quietly celebrating Chris’ birthday, working on the house, and trying to keep on top of everything. The good news is that the patio (flower beds/containers) is now ready for winter. Hooray! I have just a couple of containers left to dry brush to get the last few specks of dirt out and I have to drain the hose and put it away. I feel really good about having things all set before it snows.

In the meantime, I’ve been making cards like crazy for a few challenges this weekend. First up is Embellish Magazine‘s Embellish the Cure with Bling challenge, at the top of this post. Don’t you just love those colors? Wow! Fuschia and light pink are such a happy, girlie combination. I always associate fuschia with tween girls while light pink is my go-to for little girls. Is that strange?

enjoy notecard recipe: stamps: everyday button bits (pti) + vintage picnic sentiments (pti); cardstock: whisper white (su); patterned paper: candy lane (su) + rockabilly (su); ink: basic gray (su) + melon mambo (su); accessories: button bouquet (su) + raspberry fizz buttons (pti) + rhinestones (kaiser); tools: corner chomper (we r memory keepers) + 1-1/4" Circle punch (su)

Dawn’s eighteenth Raspberry Suite challenge was next on the list. Aren’t these colors stunning together? The combination had me missing Stampin’ Up!’s In Colors from a couple of years ago — Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate. Of course, I had to use those colors on this challenge! The layout for this card is pretty much my standard, but I like the nice clean look for these colors.

Another cool thing I like about this card is the repetition of polka-dots in the cherry leaves, the paper, and the ribbon. I think it gives the card a little something extra and keeps it from being too boring. Plus, the wide curves on the corners are so pretty!

Lastly, we have my non-entry for this week’s 2 Sketches 4 You challenge: a merry Christmas card using unconventional colors! I love the aubergine in the patterned paper and the combination of Pink Pirouette with Cranberry Crisp and Old Olive. Wow! I’m going to have to use this one again. And, of course, I didn’t get this one finished in time to play: that’s why it’s a “non-entry.” Why is it that I can never quite meet the deadline for this challenge? {laughs and shakes head}

happy holidays card recipe: stamps: stocking prints (pti); cardstock: whisper white (su) + pink pirouette textured (su); patterned paper: eskimo kisses (basicgrey); ink: cranberry crisp (su) + old olive (su); fibers: old olive poly-twill (su); accessories: chipboard (su); tools: scallop edge punch

Is the fall just rushing by you too? I can’t believe we’re at the end of October! This week brings us Chris’ birthday (tomorrow), my niece Cali’s birthday (she’ll be nine on Halloween), and Halloween itself. It’s a busy, busy week for us!
