I did it! I reached my goal of getting cards made for both Dawn’s and Tina’s challenges today, plus posting the Chicago trip, all before 6:30 today. It’s funny how little milestones like this can make you feel so good.
This week’s inspiration photo comes from Amy of Tethered 2 Home — just looking at it made me nostalgic. While we never went to a lake to swim when I was a child, this made me think of our summers running around the small town in Nebraska where my dad grew up. I think we all have that warm, full feeling when we look back on our childhood summers.
So, when I sat down to make this card, despite my initial decision to draw on the bright, tropical colors in Amy’s photo, I ended up trying to capture that nostalgic feeling. The colors I used were inspired by water and sunshine, but I chose pale shades to mimic the slightly blown out look of photographs from the sixties and seventies.
The sentiment reads:
“Keep your faith in beautiful things; in the sun when it’s hidden, in the spring when it’s gone. — Gilson”
Although we’re talking about summer, I thought this quote was perfect.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
