Hi everyone! Welcome to Lawn Fawn’s August 2014 release! This is just going to be a quick post to show off the first two of my three projects for this release.
Autumn is my favorite time of year, so these new stamps are right up my alley!
Seriously, how cute is that cat? Spooktacular is just too adorable for words. I combined it with Sweater Weather to create a framed greeting and setting for my watercolored cat. To watercolor the cat and the hat (ha!), I used a dry brush technique with my old Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Wonder Crayons (Close to Cocoa and Elegant Eggplant). I grabbed just a tiny bit of water with a small, flat paintbrush, and applied the water to the crayon to lift some color. I then pounced the brush over the image, without rewetting until I could no longer pick up any color. I didn’t apply any water to my paper at all!
I’m so happy that Lawn Fawn came out Arygle Backdrops. Argyle has always been one of my favorite patterns. The look I created here can be accomplished two ways:
- Color the stamp using Distress Markers (Broken China and Pine Needles), and then spritz the stamped image with water.
- Color the stamp using Watercolor Wonder Crayons (Taken with Teal and Garden Green), and spritz water directly on the stamp.
I love the way watercolored backgrounds look, don’t you? And there are so many different ways to get them: it’s all about finding the medium you’re most comfortable using. Note: I used the textured side of the watercolor paper for this look; for a less “mottled” look, make sure you stamp on the smoother side of the paper.
Be sure to check out all the fabulous projects on the Lawn Fawn blog this week!
