Hello everyone! How has your 2014 been treating you? It’s been a whirlwind for me: two business trips already and another one coming up. Whew! Anyway, I thought I’d take a little time to share some cards with you. For these cards, I used the “With Love and Thanks” stamp set from Inspiration Ave.
A side note: I worked with Amy, the smarty pants behind Inspiration Ave, at Stampin’ Up! Amy is one of the most creative people I know and one of the great designers from my Stampin’ Up! years that inspired me to start making cards and scrapbooking in the first place. I was thrilled when she started coming out with her own stamps! How elegant and fun is that font? BTW, she doesn’t know I’m posting this and I bought the stamp set with my own money. Ta da! Disclaimered! (Which is totally a word….)
For the above card, I stamped the “Hi” stamp over and over in Stampin’ Up! Gumball Green ink, then die cut the piece using Lawn Fawn’s Speech Bubble Border die (available Feb 20, 2014). I love this die way, way too much! So, once it was cut, I stamped Hello on the top portion of the die cut in Tempting Turquoise ink. Adhered the bottom “Hi” piece flush with the bottom of a top-folding White card, then inset the top portion of the die cut into the bottom and popped it up with some dimensional adhesive. The result? That crisp double line around the bottom edge of the speech bubble and lots of dimension!
And now, more cards! Some of these you may have seen before, if you follow me on Instagram.
This color combo, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry, is one of my favorites! A few die cut heart windows (Hearts-Lawn Cuts) finishes off this clean-and-simple design. Pretty happy with how this one turned out!
I’m always on the lookout for new ways to combine stamp sets for birthday cards. Pairing the “Hooray” from “With Love and Thanks” with a Papertrey Ink candle made this simple card come together super quick! And the Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, and Crushed Curry color combo makes this card look fresh and modern. Another one I’m pretty happy with! Don’t you just love it when you have a good crafting night? (I credit the stamp set!)
This is my favorite card of the bunch. Clean, simple, and the color combo makes me so happy! It doesn’t stand up, so it was kind of hard to photograph. Ha! Smokey Slate and Melon Mambo go together beautifully, and create such a feminine vibe on a card. Love!
And now to show something on this card that doesn’t photograph super well:
Look closely… yup, there’s a tiny, pressed heart! I used a technique I learned from Online Card Classes’ Stenciled class to use the positive die cut left over from my “Thoughtful You = Thankful Me” card and my die-cutting machine to basically letterpress the heart into this card. This technique is so much fun. Once you start, it’s kinda hard to stop…. Hee!
That’s it from me today. I’m off to watch Seattle kick some Bronco butt! I got my Master’s from the University of Washington, so I’m a Seahawks fan. Have a great Super Bowl Sunday everyone!
