Operation Write Home: Cards for Kids 2012

When the Lawn Fawn design team was asked to create cards for soldiers to send home to their kids as part of Operation Write Home, I immediately knew I wanted to create two cards, one for a boy and one for a girl, that would work for more everyday situations, not necessarily for birthdays or another holiday. Maybe something to send your kid if he or she was having a hard time. While I was thinking these rather serious thoughts, my mind jumped to Critters Ever After. Just the thing to make these cards fun!

Buddy OWH Card
Hey There Buddy card recipe: Cardstock: Stampin' Up!; Patterned paper: American Crafts and Lawn Fawn; Ribbon: May Arts; Stamps: Lawn Fawn; Ink: Stampin' Up! and Tsukeniko; Die cut: Studio Calico.

I used ink pads to watercolor my dragon: Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, and Poppy Parade. He’s just stamped on some basic watercolor paper. I always keep a pad on hand for stamped images. The sentiment is stamped using Lawn Fawn’s Sally’s ABCs. Love Lawn Fawn’s alphabet stamps; the letters are crazy easy to line up! I decided on this sentiment because, well, it’s something I always say to my nephew.

This is the companion card to Hey There Buddy, meant for a little girl. Rather than watercoloring the unicorn, I simply stamped it on some patterned paper and cut it out. Three sequins and a few layered strips of washi tape finish off this card.
