red velvet cupcake card

I couldn’t wait to get home today, because while I was sitting at work, I had a brilliant idea for a little rock ‘n’ roll: a red velvet cupcake!

It’s easy-peasy. Just start with Ruby Red ink all over your image, then roll the edges of the image in Cranberry Crisp. Yeah, I know Cranberry Crisp is retired — you didn’t get rid of your ink pad, did you? I haven’t tried this with Riding Hood Red, but it might work. If any of you try it, let me know!

I chose To the Nines for my wrapper because one of my favorite color combos from Stampin’ Up! a few years ago is Cranberry Crisp, Sage Shadow, and Chocolate Chip. I think it looks quite nice with the pale yellow, which I pulled in to reflect the buttercream frosting on the cupcake photo. The greeting is also stamped in Cranberry Crisp.

Now, I didn’t ice my cupcake because I wanted to focus on the “cakiness,” the depth that the rock ‘n’ roll technique could give a plain cupcake top. I’m sure at some point I’ll do this again and bling out my image.
